WUA Appoints New Pro Vice Chancellor PDF  | Print |  E-mail

The WUA Board of Trustees through the Council announces the appointment of Dr Elizabeth Chikwiri as its substantive Pro Vice Chancellor effective 1 October 2016.

Dr Chikwiri has been with the university since 2006 and brings in vast experience as shown from her career path below.
Dr. Elizabeth Chikwiri is a holder of a PhD from the University of South Africa, Master of Education and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Zimbabwe.  She brings to the University expertise in teaching, research and administration.

Her career as a teacher started way back in 1983 as a Primary School Teacher.   Her passion for continuous learning saw her rise through the ranks to Head Teacher in 1993, Lecturer and subsequently Lecturer in Charge at Seke Teacher's College.  Dr Chikwiri joined the Women's University in Africa as a Part time Lecturer in 2006 and became a Full time lecturer in 2007.   She was appointed Faculty Coordinator in the Faculty of Social Science & Gender Development Studies in 2008.

In April 2010 Dr Chikwiri was the Acting Dean of Studies, and was appointed substantive Dean of Studies in 2011.  She has a number of published works to her name which include Community Involvement in Early Childhood Development Programmes, Quality Assurance in Open and Distance Learning. She has also contributed her work towards the publishing of the WUA'S Sociology module "Introduction to Gender Studies". Her quest for research has prompted her current research on gender based violence in primary schools as well as gender interactions in the classroom.
