 Faculty Administrator (Faculty of Social and Gender Transformative Sciences

Report to:      Dean

 Major Duties:

The faculty administrator is expected to deliver operational excellence across all of the faculty activities, help formulate the strategy, mange the finance of the office and budgeting cycle, and act as faculty secretary overseeing the Faculty governance in terms of appointment of personnel, enrolment of students, timetabling of lectures, examination management and graduation preparations..  The Faculty administrator also supports the Dean and senior faculty members in all aspects of the administration and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and motivating an administrative team that will deliver excellent support services for the entire range of Faculty activities
  • Managing and developing administrative, secretarial and clerical staff.
  • Ensuring that administrative procedures comply with university policies and procedures, and implement the strategic intent of the faculty.
  • Ensure quality assurance and validation
  • Being responsible for the strategic development of support resources.
  • Managing support services dedicated to –student recruitment, delivery of teaching programs, career services, alumni services, external and corporate relations, finance, quality assurance and HR.
  • Promoting and developing best practice in faculty administration.
  • Managing the relationship between those support services provided centrally by the University and those provided within the faculty.
  • Ensuring the Faculty complies with all health, safety, statutes, ordinances and any other legislation
  • Supervising the Faculty’s accommodation requirements, space planning, and reporting of such information both to the Dean and Heads of Department
  • Representing the faculty as necessary on other University committees.


  • Bachelors degree in any Social Science field;
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant working experience preferably in an institution of higher learning.
